Lazarus’ Future Aims

Lazarus' main aim is to raise money for a children's hostel to be built where those girls who have nowhere to go once they reach the age of sixteen can stay until the age of twenty one. After further care and education they will be better equipped to face the outside world. Such a project in India would need a small financial amount compared to a western economy.

Around 35 Lakhs (43,000 British pounds) is the amount needed for such an undertaking. This would cover a twenty roomed building (4 girls per bedroom) a study hall, a small library, kitchen & dining room area, bathroom facilities and relaxation lounge. Further donations can then be raised and accepted for the upkeep and running of such a venture. The girls are also encouraged to become financially responsible by making and selling various creative products to support themselves.

Lazarus updates information regarding gifts and donations with documented reports on our website at thrice yearly intervals. So you can clearly see how our and/or your (full) donation has been put directly to use. There is no 'middle man' or expenditure from donations received.

Placement for Visitors Wishing to do Service

At the Mata Devi Hostel there will also be opportunities for people from all over the world wishing to spend periods of time with the girls to both educate and assist them in further education and development in general. As this project will be outside of the legal boundaries stated by the Indian authorities currently taking care of the girl's welfare, we will be free to run this project with government advice and helpful supervision only.
