Inner Himalayan Retreats

After breakfast the following day, we allow time for discussion and then you are free to explore your surroundings. After supper we have a further two day period of silence where you can wander off and simply be alone in this extraordinary environment. Silence ends with a group process around a campfire when the full moon rises.

The following morning we travel out through the inner Himalayas and take a break at a Tibetan monastery where you can you can explore its ancient Gompta . We have a stop-over night in a historical pilgrimage village before travelling back to our original retreat setting.

Please note: the planned return route depends on weather conditions and road accessibility at the time, but the journey out of the glacier regions is roughly the same length in either direction. (Lazarus provides helicopter transportation from these remote regions should it be needed.)

Once back in our original retreat setting there are two nights and a full day to rest from travelling, have a final massage and/or consultation with our onboard doctor and/or pay a visit to a local shrine and temple. How you spend your time is entirely up to you but our team will be at your disposal whatever you decide to do. The retreat ends with a reflective group process and Arti, followed by a party including a live performance of sitar and tabla around a bonfire.

The next day you are homeward bound via Rishikesh, an ancient pilgrimage town brimming with colourful Swamis’, Babas’ and Sadhus’. We stay in a secluded hotel with its own private ghatt by the Ganges. Our arrival is in time for evening Arti which is an enchanting ceremony in this area and takes place as the sun sets.

In the morning you can have a Ganga dip (if you wish) and personally meet one of the most respected Yogi’s in the area who will perform a special blessing ceremony for the group. You can either spend the rest of the morning relaxing or visit one of the local temples nearby. After lunch the journey is continued to Delhi for a farewell supper before your departure from India the following day.
