Important Check List
Please note; I.H.R means items necessary for retreats in the inner Himalayan regions.
- A valid visit for your entire stay obtainable from your nearest Indian embassy.
- 4 passport size photographs for a H.P government pass (I.H.R)
- Cell head torch, preferably one that has several functions such as a flashing, warning system.
- Powerful cell hand torch.
- Solid padlock (a small numeral one won’t work on bolt doors).
- A warm, light compact sleeping bag (I.H.R.)
- An adapter for use in India if you are bringing electrical devices.
- Plug-in mosquito repellent and 4 boxes of mosquito mats.
- Three bottles/sprays of jungle formula insect repellant.
- A small bottle of ‘Tea Tree’ oil or a favorite antiseptic cream.
- Antihistamine cream.
- Packet of wax earplugs for Delhi – if you’re a light sleeper.
- A pair of sunglasses (or two pairs if you’re prone to losing them) (I.H.R)
- Sun protection cream, plus at least a 30 factor cream for your face I.H.R
- A sun hat or cap.
- Comfortable, practical, hard-wearing walking sandals (and shoes if you’re on a I.H.R).
- Several pairs of socks (I.H.R.)
- A cheap, plastic, hooded, armless Mac comes in very handy or failing that, a collapsible umbrella (I.H.R).
- A pair of rubber flip–flaps, as shoes are not allowed inside rooms in India. They also come in handy when bathing on cold bathroom floors.
- Warm, casual clothing, including a jacket and night wear. Something very cool to arrive in and for the first day and a half in Delhi, as well as for the outward journey home. (I.H.R)
Please note: It’s really not a dressing up holiday for those on an inner Himalayan retreat but we do take you for an evening out in Delhi and there’s also a farewell party. It’s wise to leave plenty of room in your case/rucksack, as the large, underground market we are taking you to in Delhi is inexpensive and irresistible.
