Ayurvedic Massage & Yoga

Lazarus has an on board AYURVEDIC PRACTICIONER who travels with us throughout our journeys. He provides Ayurvedic massage and yoga classes every morning for those wishing to participate. (Govinda’s qualifications and details are on the ‘Profile & Team’ section of this site.)

Morning yoga instruction is your choice and is included in the overall price of your journey. Massage fees are dealt with individually and paid for by our guests either at the time of treatment or when the journey has concluded.

Ayurvedic massage, using organic oils, takes place in the privacy of your room at a time previously agreed with our practitioner. This allows you to unwind directly after a treatment giving maximum benefit. We recommend at least two full body massages during the silent part of your journey, as this aids the physical release of emotional blocks/tensions. You can have as many massages as you feel you require and we suggest you book in advance for the seven day silent period, so as not to disturb your process.

Prices for massage are as follows

Full body – 700 Rupees (1 hour 15mins)
Neck & shoulders – 400 Rupees (30 minutes)
Indian head massage – 400 Rupees (30 minutes)
Foot massage – 400 Rupees (30 minutes)

Yoga

Yoga is offered every morning for those wishing to participate. (This is inclusive of your package price.)

Practicalities

Clothing

Unlike the West, outside of its mains cities, India has a code of dress. Some places are rapidly becoming westernised but if you live in India and begin to understand the reasons for its culture being the way it is, you have a deeper sense of the value of upholding these customs which ultimately make it an interesting and different place to visit. You will be travelling to tribal areas where there are few (if any) westerners which makes discretion the best policy. Our main location on our Himalayan retreats, with its ancient Kali and Durga temples, is considered to be a very sacred place to visit for Indians, as are the other areas we will be travelling to.

In India, it’s considered indecent for women to show their legs or wear tight fitting cloths around the lower half of the body. A large, throw-over shawl is a very comfortable item of clothing in the higher regions for both men and women, as well as being a local tradition. You can purchase one on the initial shopping trip in Delhi.
